The uncertain climate has in fact become one of the reasons for fertilizing the prostitution business in the northern coast of Java Island. Climate change is making poverty even more real. The drastic decline in marine products and the uncertainty of life during the pandemic provide a special impetus for women in making decisions as sex workers. A phenomenological approach is used to reveal the meaning behind women's decisions. The results of the study reveal that there are at least two things that are taken into consideration in making women's decisions to become sex workers, namely economic incapacity and powerlessness in social construction as women.
Puspita Wulandari Sri Wahyuni Nindita Fajria Utami Copyright (c) 2025 APSSI International Conference Proceeding 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 1 1 1 12 From Protests to Petitions: The Global Response to the Gaza Crisis Since October 2023 https://apssi-icp.portalapssi.id/index.php/icp/article/view/3
This paper discusses the global civilian response to the Israeli massacre in Gaza since October 2023. The massacre began when Hamas carried out an attack on October 07 that was retaliated with indiscriminate attacks by the Israeli regime. Israel carried out massacres not only through military strikes but also by blockading Gaza by stopping the entry of food, water, electricity, and internet aid in Gaza. This has increased the number of deaths in Gaza and people suffering acutely. The international community responded to this Israeli attack through condemnation, criticism, and calls to stop this massacre. This study will focus on the efforts of the global civil community in responding to the Israeli massacre in Gaza by trying to map the spread of actions and strategies carried out by these communities. This study uses a qualitative method approach by collecting data through online media to assess the actions and movement patterns of the global community's efforts to respond to the Gaza issue and the Israeli massacre.
Hasbi Aswar Ade Irman Heryana Imam Hudaifi Imam Khairul Muslim Hawari Copyright (c) 2025 APSSI International Conference Proceeding 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 1 1 13 24 Literature Review on River Restoration in the Perspective of Social Movements https://apssi-icp.portalapssi.id/index.php/icp/article/view/4
The river restoration movement is a new variant of the mainstream environmental movement. The purpose of this study is to investigate how transgender women's existence is related to social acceptance and how that acceptance affects their religious practices. The research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews conducted with several religiously observant transgender women. The findings show that in Indonesia, transgender women face discrimination in family and social settings due to traditional values and negative stereotypes. Despite this, they can be welcomed and valued in socioeconomic roles when they contribute positively. However, places of worship often become sites of persecution for transgender individuals, leading to discomfort and reduced devotion. The study shows that while societal discrimination affects transgender people across various aspects of life, including religious practices, their potential for personal and spiritual growth is hindered by such biases.
Pardamean Daulay Sri Pujiati Momy A. The method used in this research is a systematic literature review, which is a type of approach that utilizes literature studies as various literary sources that are collected systematically to answer problematic topics from the themes raised in a study. This research aims to look at the changes that have occurred in campursari music from time to time. The results of the research obtained explain that in each era campursari music underwent changes from the old campursasi music which was close to gamelan playing and lyrics which carried Javanese values, then began to become more widely known in the Manthous era with several modifications and reached the peak of popularity through Didi Kempot in the era of massive globalization in 2019 with several changes in the presentation of his music so that he was able to form a group of fans with an extraordinary base, namely Sobat Ambyar. The response to the transformational changes in campursari music that has occurred from time to time has experienced pros and cons from several parties because this is related to the Javanese values contained in campursari music. It is quite a complicated cultural issue between maintaining campursari as local music that is close to Javanese noble values known as ancient campursari music, or providing space for campursari artists to explore more widely in order to keep campursari music still existing in the midst of development and globalization which has become increasingly massive has further introduced modern campursari music among the wider community.
Rosseta Septia Menawati Ahmad Zuber Trisni Utami Copyright (c) 2025 APSSI International Conference Proceeding 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 1 1 97 105 Capability Set and Environmental Agency in Kampung Harmoni: A Sociological Inquiry https://apssi-icp.portalapssi.id/index.php/icp/article/view/10
This sociological study delves into the nuanced relationship between capability sets and environmental agency within the community empowerment programs at Kampung Harmoni, Indonesia. The role of women farmers is an interesting focus for further research, because before agricultural mechanization, they had played an important role in this sector, especially in Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) which was nicknamed the rice barn of South Sulawesi. Women agricultural workers in this area are known as Pa'daros, so how does agricultural modernization interact with tradition, as well as what impact it has on the social and economic landscape in women farming communities. This research uses qualitative research methods, descriptive type. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with informants. To strengthen the data, limited observations and literature studies were also carried out. The data was analyzed by carrying out data reduction, presenting the data and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that agricultural modernization in Tonrongnge Village has caused massive changes in the agricultural sector and has had an impact on reducing the employment prospects and income of pa'daros women. This can be seen in the shift and shrinkage of women's work in the agricultural sector, from the planting process to harvest. Work that was previously handled by women has now been replaced by machines operated by a few people and generally men. The decline in women's employment opportunities certainly has an impact on their income. Now the pa'daros are increasingly degraded or even have no income anymore compared to before the massive mechanization in the agricultural sector in Tonrongnge Village.
Sakaria To Anwar Sultan Arisnawawi Copyright (c) 2025 APSSI International Conference Proceeding 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 1 1 114 125 Using Instagram for Social Marketing Communications regarding the Environment https://apssi-icp.portalapssi.id/index.php/icp/article/view/12
The Instagram account @hutanituid is dedicated to advocating for forest conservation and climate change issues through the hashtag #MauHidupLebihLama (#WantToLiveLonger). Given that it qualifies as a crime, what category do articles that use the phrase "without the consent of the victim" fall into? We must address this issue to resolve the conflicting benefits and drawbacks in society, especially as the number of victims of sexual violence continues to rise. In many countries, a development policy and its implementation must deal with the following problems of society such as conflict, religious or identity sentiment, climate change, marginalization, environmental issues, gender injustice, and others. The problems are reflecting how development as a policy of the government will always need a study to formulate, revise or accomplish.

As the papers of the conference elaborate the problems that often occur within the implementation of the development through a case study. As the current big issue of world wide society namely climate change that influence the society including the livelihood of the citizens, women, in a coastal area. As the case of women in North Coast Java island which is facing a very narrow option to get a ‘right job’ except as sex workers. How do the government should respond that problem with the instrument of development?

Some other problems of development can be seen from the case of accessibility of people with disability in the public transportation through the case of MRT Jakarta, the issue of transgender identity in public sphere, and the security issue of community resilience in coastal area. While the global issue related to the issue of humanity that becomes one of the attention by Indonesian society is Israel’s occupation on Palestinian territory.

The papers of APSSI the International Conference Proceeding as the result of the international conference held by UIN Jakarta may contribute empirically some problems in development, especially in Indonesia.

Editor in Chief Copyright (c) 2025 APSSI International Conference Proceeding 2025-02-13 2025-02-13 1 1 iii iii
