Abstract
The first APSSI International Conference was held collaboratively with ICSPS The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UIN Jakarta (Islamic State University Jakarta), 15-17 May 2024, under the theme “Pursing Sustainable and Inclusive Development through Global Collaboration”. In many countries, a development policy and its implementation must deal with the following problems of society such as conflict, religious or identity sentiment, climate change, marginalization, environmental issues, gender injustice, and others. The problems are reflecting how development as a policy of the government will always need a study to formulate, revise or accomplish.
As the papers of the conference elaborate the problems that often occur within the implementation of the development through a case study. As the current big issue of world wide society namely climate change that influence the society including the livelihood of the citizens, women, in a coastal area. As the case of women in North Coast Java island which is facing a very narrow option to get a ‘right job’ except as sex workers. How do the government should respond that problem with the instrument of development?
Some other problems of development can be seen from the case of accessibility of people with disability in the public transportation through the case of MRT Jakarta, the issue of transgender identity in public sphere, and the security issue of community resilience in coastal area. While the global issue related to the issue of humanity that becomes one of the attention by Indonesian society is Israel’s occupation on Palestinian territory.
The papers of APSSI the International Conference Proceeding as the result of the international conference held by UIN Jakarta may contribute empirically some problems in development, especially in Indonesia.
